The Center for Environmental Concerns – Philippines has launched the Mining Situation 2018 and People’s Mining Bill Primer (in English and Filipino).
The Mining Situation 2018: Resisting Plunder, Defending Patrimony aims to contribute to the current discourse that mining should always be within the development framework of agrarian reform and national industrialization, in an economically viable, ecologically sound and democratic manner.
The People’s Mining Bill (HB2715) Primer discusses HB2715 which is an alternative to the plunderous Philippine Mining Act of 1995. Its framework is based on the sustainable development of our mineral resources, social justice, respect for people’s rights and welfare, environmental conservation, and the defense of national sovereignty and patrimony. It was filed in Congress on August 9, 2016. The primer is available in English and Filipino.
