Another Land Defender Attacked amidst clamor against martial law-like measure of the ATB

Center for Environmental Concerns – Philippines condemns the abduction of Elen Tijamo, Program Coordinator of Sustainable Agriculture from Central Visayas Farmers Development Center (FARDEC), on June 13, 2020 and it is suspected that it was done by state forces. According to human rights group Karapatan, the abductors were reported to be four men with rifles and two women with masks on. Elen was abducted around 8:00PM in her home in Barangay Kampingganon, Bantayan, Cebu.

World Environment Day: Unity for Biodiversity and Health

Today, as we commemorate the World Environment Day with the theme “Celebrate Biodiversity”, we are one with environmental defenders and fellow advocates in working towards a common goal of protecting biodiversity for the health and well-being of the citizenry. The spread of zoonotic diseases like COVID-19 is a result of the degraded ecosystems tantamount to the loss of biodiversity.
